PTT Seeding The Future Camp 2015
by Mr. Dang Raksa
I am Dang Raksa from Cambodia. Right now, I am a second year student at DPUIC, and my major is International Tourism Management Administration (ITMA).
I am writing to share my experiences about the PTT Seeding the Future Asian Camp 2015. It was the first Asian camp organized by PTT Company. The camp was from the 29th September until the 2nd October, which is about two weeks ago.
First of all, I was told that there was an Asian camp for students from 4 countries which are Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and Philippines. I was not even interested in that camp at all when a DPUIC staff suggested it because I would have to skip class for a whole week and it was close to the midterm exam. When the date was postponed to 28th September and as I didn’t have any assignments to do anymore, I started to think about it again. I decided to apply for it, so I started recording a video clip talking about the requirements that were informed in the application form. I waited for a week to get to know the result. I felt a little bit sad and upset when I saw the result because I was not chosen. How lucky I was! On 3the 0th September, I was extremely excited when one of the PTT Company Facebook page users messaged me and asked some important questions related to moral education, skills and a little more about my feelings when getting to know that I was not chosen. After interviewing for about 5 minutes, I was luckily re-selected by telling me one surprising word “Congratulations “.
Secondly, after being re-selected to be a participant in the PTT Seeding the Future Asian camp 2015, four DPUIC students( Nickie, May, Alan and Tyrel) and I were asked to fill in the registration form which informed us about some special details. At about 2 pm, on 28th September, we left DPU campus and headed to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel. It was such a great beginning to the evening when we started to get to know the other participants, PTT staffs and others as well. We spent our evening having dinner at a buffet restaurant. It was even more special when we were all asked to gather in the meeting room in the hotel and spend two hours doing some activities in order to get to know each other.
On 29th September, we were taken to the PTT head office which is located in Bangkok. We were taken to lots of places inside the company and also introduced to the PTT company background. We left the head office to go to a PTT resort which is located near a beach in, Chonburi province. It took us to hours to reach there. Honestly, we really enjoyed the life there because we always spent at least two hours after dinner doing some creative and innovative activities with a group of PTT staff, but actually we enjoyed it very much every single time with them because they were very friendly, funny, nice and kind. They always made us laugh and took care of us as like we were their kids, and even treated us warmly and whole-heartedly. The most important thing was that we always woke up early and had breakfast and lunch happily on the bus and did some activities like singing, dancing and many more while on the way to some places that were scheduled. When reaching each place, we were introduced to lots of new things about technology, society, especially economics and business strategies. We leant a lot from the camp and also enjoyed it very much. The next day was the most exciting and relaxing day because we were taken to an island that is controlled by the army. The island was very nice and there were many kinds of fish we had never ever seen before. We learnt more things from there and enjoyed swimming and playing some recreation activities on the beach, especially snorkeling. It was so beautiful to see those things under the water. When the last night of the camp came, we were asked to go to the hall as usual. We did many new things under a few different topics and we really learnt lots of things from the different activities. After that, the PTT executive came and gave a speech about his experiences since he had started life with nothing and had got to this successful point. He taught and shared many things about what he had done in his life up to the present time. After that, to give him something back, we all cooperated with each other to do something special for him by sharing everybody’s ideas. This cooperation happened because we all tried our best to make it happen. We will never ever forget these special days. Laughing so much from the beginning until the last day, we also cried so hard when they showed us the video clip activities that we did from the beginning to the last day. It was extremely touching when saying goodbye to each other because our friendship was becoming so strong with each other. This feeling happened unexpectedly.
To include all the actions in all situations, I have leant lots things about life, education, and many more from the camp especially the friendship that was unexpectedly and unforgettably built up within the 4 day camp. Therefore, I really thank PTT for creating this camp for us to learn more things outside the classroom about the way to have a successful life. I really hope that I will be able to join it again someday in the future.
Last but not least, I really want to thank DPUIC, especially P Sine, the lovely sister that suggested to us to join this valuable and meaningful camp and supported us from the first day until the end of the camp. Love You Khrap 🙂
