To begin with, I would first like to introduce myself. My name is Touch SomangKul. I’m 18 years old. I come from Cambodia. I have just graduated from my high school 3 months ago. My dream when I was young was to study abroad. Because I thought that, if I could study abroad it would make it easier to communicate with each other, to improve my employment as well as to learn about culture, cuisine, living etc. Now my dream has come true as I moved to Thailand to continue my study on the 19th September 2015.
I chose my university in Bangkok and its name is Dhurakij Pundit University International College. There are many reasons why I chose that university. First, I saw on a website that DPUIC is one of the top universities in Thailand (Bangkok). Second, I think that the school has a lot of foreign students so I can learn many culture in one place, and about the environment, I would like to say that it’s the most beautiful compared to other campuses. Third, DPUIC has a lot of programs for study and is also taught by foreign teachers.
I started my university life as a first year at Dhurakij Pundit International College, and I feel it is similar to my country but all of them speak in English during class. DPUIC has lots of relaxing places for students such as the library and some kind of sports (for example, football and swimming). So student won’t be bored to study here. The thing I like most at DPUIC is going to a gym at the fitness club. Courses are very interesting and it emphasizes 100% English with foreign lecturers at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Another point is that I can make a lot of new friends and they come from different countries. We learn a lot of things from each other.
Everything in my life has changed now I live here such as food and languages. So I have to learn Thai and eat spicy food. The prices are lower than in my country but electrical stuff is more expensive. I have had a lot of new experiences while I live here and in just a month I can speak a little Thai, I have met new people, studied in a new program and my life is fully free and independent.
In conclusion, I would like to say that my life is full of happiness as I study at DPUIC. However, I also miss my family and my hometown too but I will keep calm and enjoy my study here as well so that I can finish my university with a certificate.
